Project Description: 

Cannabis agriculture in California has increased dramaically over the last 10 years. In some areas of the Sierra Nevada, illegal timber clearing associated with Cannabis grows  have taken place, although the spatial extent of such grows is unknown.  In this project we will use GIS technology to map illegal cannabis grows and forest clearing in the Sierra Nevada.  Our research will provide the first account of this phenomena.

Undergraduate's Role: 

Undergraduate students will assist in mapping illegal forest clearinngs and cannabis grows.  Students will have the oppertunity to learn GIS software, although no previous expericance is nessecary.

Undergraduate's Qualifications: 

Undergraduate students should be able to work independently, be detailed oriented, and interested in forestry issues.
