Project Description:

This project's goal is to analyze residential water use in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, with a special focus on the effects of social pressure for excessive water users during the height of the recent drought. This research began a couple years ago, but the analysis we could conduct was limited given data we had at that time. Recently we acquired (and continue to acquire) data that will allow us to greatly extend this analysis and answer a bunch more exciting questions. With the new data come many opportunities to incorporate other types of data (satellite imagery, census data, parcel data, twitter and online presence, Nextdoor neighborhoods) and greatly improve the analysis, which motivates this SPUR project.
