I was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Science at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where I taught courses in ecology, evolution and sustainability science.

My research addressed how urban land use affects the capacity of soil microbial communities to provide ecosystem services like greenhouse gas exchange, carbon and nitrogen cycling, and degradation of contaminants. One focus of the project is to provide knowledge that managers could use to maximize the ecological co-benefits of Green Infrastructure, part of a $2+ billion two-decade plan in NYC alone.
