Hyperion Laporte de Castelnau 1834

Hyperion schroetteriRecognition- This is one of the largest species of Carabidae, with individuals reaching nearly 80mm in length. Aside from its extraordinary size this species is distinguished by the combination of absence of setae on the pronotal margin, extremely prominent temples and submoniliform antennae.

Distribution/Diversity- The genus includes a single species from Australia.
