LAB #2: FIELD TRIP TO STRAWBERRY CANYON

OBJECTIVE:

To acquaint the student with the use of aerial photographs in the field and to delineate some cover types for future cover type mapping.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Walk the length of Strawberry Canyon from the Space Sciences Laboratory back to Mulford Hall. Observe areas of similar spectral response on your photos. Determine the cover type of these areas. Delineate at least 8 areas of different cover types on the acetate properly registered over photo

#2. Describe the color and texture of each of these vegetation types.

Compare photo #2 with photo #3. For the same targets, how differently do they look?

REMEMBER:

The more information you collect now the easier it will be to do a type map next week.

HAND IN:

Photograph #2 with acetate attached, make sure your name is on it. A description of the vegetation and its color and texture should be on a separate page.
