This summer three undergraduate students obtained research money to conduct independent research! Cory Berger obtained from UC Berkeley’s SURF program, while Anna Wood and Gregg Stephenson both obtained their funding from College of Natural Resources’ SPUR program. Cory took the summer the start working on his silk gene project while Anna and Gregg traveled with me to go conduct research in Hawaii. The work was intense but with our strengths combined we managed to help each other in each of our projects and successfully come back with a wonderful data set to work with. They will be continuing their work throughout the next school year in hopes of finishing their projects and either presenting and/or publishing their work in the near future.
