On November 15th, 2018 our lab was invited to come present our work at the Exploratorium’s After Dark event titled “Poison” where researchers were invited to talk about all things “poison” or in our came “venom”. We talked about how poison is different from venom, how Arachnids use venom, and what research is being conducted with spider venom (including our research conducted by our undergraduate, Shuanger Li). As usual, we brought a collection of some local and exotic live arachnids to demonstrate how arachnids hunt for their prey using venom and talked about all other things spider and Arachnid related. Although it was an extremely smokey day due to the terrible fires in Northern California, we made it out to San Francisco and had a wonderful time interacting with the visitors at the Exploratorium!
