How do I get started?

Start slowly. Begin with a 10 minute walk, swim, Tai-Chi, or start by doing some light activities around the house like vacuuming or doing the laundry.

Begin with what you enjoy
. If you like to walk, start by taking a walk after dinner with your family or friends. Or if you like gardening, you can plant flowers, trim the bushes, or mow the lawn.

Build up endurance.
You’ll find that as you do it more regularly, you’ll be able to do it longer and more often. Try to build up to at least 30 minutes of activity on most days, preferably daily.

Remember, being physically active doesn’t mean only going to the gym. There are many things you can do, and probably do already on a daily basis that will get you moving and keep you moving.

Be active at least 30 minutes daily
