Lab TechnicianDepartment: Lab Techs, Past Members
Kris Daum began work as a full-time field and laboratory technician with the Silver Lab in April, 2018. His work currently centers on providing technical assistance to a collaborative project between the Silver Lab and the Marin Carbon Project aimed at quantifying greenhouse gas emissions associated with post-consumer food waste composting at commercial compost facilities. Before joining the Silver Lab, Kris worked at the Hudiburg Ecosystem Analysis and Modeling Lab at the University of Idaho, where he helped to conduct field-based studies quantifying carbon cycling in managed Northern Rockies coniferous timberlands. Kris earned his undergraduate degree from the Department of Geography at UC Berkeley in 2012. His interests broadly include climate change mitigation strategies, land use change and land management in the anthropocene epoch, modeling biogeochemistry in complex, coupled human-natural systems, and the impacts of international development policy on agrarian ecosystems and livelihoods.
