Yuan is a 3rd year undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, with a major in Atmospheric Science. He joined the Silver Lab as a volunteer in June 2019, and is currently working with undergraduate student Nikhil Chari and postdoc Yang Lin on research regarding soil biogeochemical processes such as respiration and methanogenesis. He has performed iron sampling, gas sampling, and data analysis as a part of this research project. Outside of the lab, he participates in the Atmospheric Science Association of Berkeley as a Co-President, and is involved in the club’s efforts to build and deploy a series of weather stations to collect meteorological data in the Berkeley Hills.
