Spring 2023 Applications Due 12/5

The Social Tools for Bio Project invites college and university biology instructors from public institutions in California to join a community of practice! As a community member, you will work with peers to develop collaborative and inclusive active-learning modules for in-person or online biology classrooms.

We will meet on Zoom over two semesters or three quarters, meeting approximately every other week for 2 hours (~8 sessions/semester; ~5 sessions/quarter), starting in February 2023. There will be an in-person kickoff meeting at UC Berkeley (1/28/22). Each participant receives a stipend of $2000 upon completion of the program.

Social Tools for Bio: Community of Practice

Great news everyone! Social Tools for Bio seed project has sprouted! We’ve been funded for a Learning Lab Scaling Success Grant! We’ll be taking the activities we made and spinning our process out to help others make great and engaging activities.

We’re really excited that we’ll be able to work with 2 cohorts of 20 biology faculty teach to build a community of practice. We’ll teach our process, learn about faculty and their students, and work together to design activities to help our students learn.
