Roderick is a Professor in ESPM.  He was a key driver of the development of pedagogy for Biology 1B, a 700-student course, teaching the Ecology section in Spring semesters (8 yrs). His major contribution to engagement was the addition of active learning activities (Flipped Fridays). Activities increased learning by students from all backgrounds and helped close achievement gaps. Since 2012, he has been an active member with the Partnership for Undergraduate Life Sciences Education.  Roderick received the College of Natural Resources Distinguished Teaching award (2013).
