From the Archive: Daniel E. Koshland Jr.

Molecular and cell biology professor Daniel E. Koshland Jr. and colleagues, circa 1963. An eminent biochemist, Koshland was the editor of the journal Science in the 1980s and ‘90s. He spearheaded a large-scale reorganization of biology at UC Berkeley in the 1980s, and gave generously to support the construction of science buildings on the Berkeley campus. Today Koshland Hall, named in his honor, is the home of the Department of Plant & Microbial Biology. Photo courtesy of the Bancroft Library.
