Jiajie joined the lab at UC Berkeley in September 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher, co-advised by Dr. Timothy M Bowles and Dr. Perry de Valpine . His research aims to develop a spatial-temporal model that links cropping system diversification with crop yields during extreme weather and use Bayesian causal inference to explore how the key factors of interest, such as soil health or precipitation, affect the crop yield using extensive observational data.

Before joining UC Berkeley, Jiajie obtained his PhD degree in Statistics from the Department of Statistics at UC Santa Cruz. He worked with Dr. Robert Lund in developing novel models to accommodate count time series, censored time series, and periodic time series. His work produces applied statistical and machine learning models to deliver projects in climatology, astronomy, and object racking.

Jiajie holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from CSU Northridge in 2016 and B.S in Economics from Guangdong, China in 2009. He is a member of the American Statistical Association and American Mathematical Society.
