I am broadly interested in ecohydrology, or the cycling of water in the biosphere. Within forest ecosystems, I am interested in plant-water relations, how trees manage water stress, invasive species, and evapotranspiration. My dissertation examines how different forest disturbances impact forest hydrology. Currently, I am looking at this issue in mesic and wet forests on Hawai‘i Island.
In addition to research, I am interested in making scientific knowledge accessible to general audiences and using science to improve environmental policy and management.
