Can you read a book through it’s cover?

Researchers have devised a clever method, using terahertz radiation, that can “see” through a stack of paper pages and distinguish ink from paper, making type readable. Terahertz radiation, unlike x-rays and with better resolution than ultrasound, can discern the difference between ink and the paper its printed on.
