Project Description:

The selected student will assist a postdoctoral researcher on the isolation of DNA from tomato plants that have been gene edited in the promoter of the tomato dmr6 gene to identify mutations.

Department:
PMB
Undergraduate's Role:

The student will isolate DNA from eidted plants and perform PCR to amplified the edited region. The student will then submit these samples of DNA sequencing and evaluate for seqeunce for gene edits. Once plants that have identified with gene edits, the student will assist in the phenotypic evaluation for disease resistance.

Undergraduate's Qualifications:

The student should have experience in DNA isolation from plants, performing PCR and running gel electrophoresis
