An article in Nature Biotechnology this week describes a new method for growing replacement organs and tissues in the lab. Using a sophisticated 3D printer the researchers, from Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, were able to produce cartilage, bone, and muscle tissues by printing replacement “organs”. Once installed in the body they develop vascular tissues and start to function like a normal part of your body. Read about it here:
