The conventional scientific wisdom is that the first Americans migrated across the Bering Sea land bridge when the glaciers receded about 12,000 year ago. New research has shown that scenario to be unlikely as the corridor lacked sufficient resources, wood, tool-making materials, and game animals for them to make the passage. If true it means that the first Americans may have made the crossing on the sea.
