Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. That aphorism may never have applied more easily than to the “de-extinction” of vanished species. Genetics may not be quite ready to bring back the mammoth, or passenger pigeon, or great auk but they will be, and probably sooner than later. Naturally this raises some profound ethical issues; We drove them to extinction so maybe we have an obligation to do it?; Who are we to play God?; Will you resurrect just one for display or are we talking a whole heard?
