Predatory slugs. No really.

Most species of slugs are thought to be detritovoures, eating decomposing material, feces, with some eating fungi, animal carcasses, tender leaves, and occasionally earthworms and other slugs. But a recent report shows slugs in the family Arionidae attacking and eating nestlings of ground and shrub nesting birds in Europe. The culprits are the red slug (Arion rufus), the black slug (Arion ater), and the invasive Spanish slug (Arion vulgaris). Using it’s radula, a sort of tongue covered in tiny teeth, the slugs rasp and consumes the chicks who are unable to defend themselves and are eaten alive. Ewww.
