Well, not really ruled, but certainly roamed across large portions of what today is Kazakhstan. A new finding of a fossilized skull from Elasmotherium sibiricum (actually more closely related to Rhinos) indicates that these monstrous creatures (5m /15ft long and weighing 4000Kg / 9,000lbs – larger than a modern African elephant) went extinct no earlier than 29,000 years ago; making them likely contemporaries of early humans.
