The banana, as you know it, will likely disappear in the next decade, some scientist suggest bananas have less than half that time. The culprit is “Sigatoka complex”, a collection of three ascomycete fungi all in the genus Pseudocercospora, that damage the banana plant. Part of the problem is that almost all commercial banana production users the Cavendish variety which are grown as clones. Don’t think it can happen?
