Nobody needs a brain eating amoeba

Naegleria fowleri is a ameboflagellate microorganism that causes rapidly fatal brain infection called primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) in humans. Yes it’s an amoeba that kills you by destroying your brain. Discovered in 1965, first in Australia, it lives in fresh water and usually enters the body when water is forced up the nose. It is relatively rare, killing 137 people in the US in the last 5 years, but once a person is infected the fatality rate is over 98%.
