We seek highly motivated researchers in environmental health science, epidemiology, and the social sciences seeking to work at the intersection of science and policy change.
Skills we look for when evaluating student cover letters and curricula vitae (CVs) include:
- Strong writing skills, particularly in English and/or Spanish;
- R coding experience and knowledge or prior coursework in statistics (There are great workshops run by the D-Lab and DataCamp) and
- Knowledge of Geographic InformationSystems (GIS) in R, Python, ArcGIS, or QGIS (Check out the Geospatial Innovation Facility and the D-Lab for workshops);
- Qualitative methods experience (e.g. conducting interviews, focus groups, and participant observation, coding documents and interview data with Dedoose, Atlas ti, or similar software)
- Language fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or other languages
- Coursework and work experience relevant to our lab’s research
- Lived experience relevant to your research interests
- Familiarity or experience with community-engaged research methods
For Undergraduates
Although we have a limited number of paid positions for undergraduate students, we are open to discussing opportunities to engage in research with our lab through programs such as Mellon Mays Fellowship, Fiat Lux, Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP) and other undergraduate research opportunity programs.
