Welcome to the Shih Lab!
Our lab aims to utilize synthetic biology as a tool to expand our understanding of plant metabolism. We are interested in exploring how plant systems can be engineered for novel applications in agriculture, sustainability, human health, and bioenergy. A main focus of the lab is to train highly interdisciplinary, creative, and collaborative scientists that appreciate both fundamental science and applied research.
We are housed in two locations: Koshland Hall at UC Berkeley’s Department of Plant and Microbial Biology and the Joint BioEnergy Institute at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.
