Project Description:

This project involves delivering RNA guides in the TRV virus that target the promoter region of the dmr6 disease susceptibility gene.  Seed isolated from editing plants will the be evaluated by sequencing the target region.

Department:
PMB
Undergraduate's Role:

The student will assist in the construction TRV guides. The student will be involved in the collection of ediited tomato fruit and the isolation of seed. Seed will be germinated and DNA will be isolated. The isolated DNA will then be analyzed by PCR amplification and will be sequenced to characterize mutations. The student will also assist in the evaluation of disesase resistance by pathogen inoculations.

Undergraduate's Qualifications:

The student should have experience in DNA isolation, PCR amplification and running the products on PAGE polyacrylamide gel electrphoresis.
