Project Description:

The goal of this project is to collect and document data on violations of federal environmental law, specifically the Clean Water Act. The Clean Water Act prohibits construction on protected rivers, streams, and wetlands, and regularly imposes fines and other enforcement actions against violators. These data are available online but are not in readily-analyzable form. The SPUR student will compile these data into a spreadsheet, organize variables documenting difference aspects of violations and enforcement, and then provide descriptive statistical and analysis of the violations.
