Project Description: 

The overall goal of the Karuk Agroecosystem Resilience Initiative, led by the University of California at Berkeley and the Karuk Tribe, is to enhance the resilience of cultural agroecosystems under variable climatic conditions within Karuk Aboriginal Territory in the Klamath River Basin. UCB interns have formed a critical part of our collaborative team and impact. For fall 2020, we are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified UCB undergraduate who can fulfill the following roles and tasks with the following skills. You would be working most closely with UC Berkeley post-doctoral researchers, supported by Professor Sowerwine and Project Manager Dr. Doshi. In this ongoing time of pandemic and health considerations, all work can be done from your home location with a reliable internet connection.

Undergraduate's Role: 

Re-design plant guidebooks to make them visually appealing and user friendly. 

Use design skills to design the layout for a completed project report

Undergraduate's Qualifications: 

Experience and expertise in graphic design

Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Experience working with project or professional report templates in Microsoft Word or other word processing programs

Experience working with maps, geospatial information and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus, but not required.

Attention for detail and aesthetics 

Strong communicator and listener particularly when giving and taking feedback

Ability to work independently and stay focused on deliverables
