Miswa Basil
Ph.D. Student-ESPMMiswa is a doctoral student in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley. His research examines the role of subnational governments in climate adaptation and environmental peacebuilding in rural communities.
Prior to joining ESPM, Miswa worked with the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis. He holds a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of San Francisco, and a Bachelors of Education in Literature from the University of Nairobi. He was a 2017-2018 Fulbright fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. Outside research, he enjoys weaving poetry and writing lyrical essays, which have won national and regional awards.
