Leap Day is Even Weirder than it Seems

It turns out that leap days and leap years, designed to keep our calendars in sync with the Earth’s rotation around the sun, are not as effective as you might think. Watch famed astrophysicist guru Neil deGrasse Tyson explain why we add a day in February every four years, skip one of those years every 100, and add one day back in every four centuries.
