Time crystals; a new form of matter

Scientists have created what they are describing as a new phase of matter: time crystals. Just as solid, liquid, gas, plasma, etc. describe different states, or forms that matter can exist in, time crystals represent a totally novel form of materials science. Composed of 10 ytterbium ions, the linear crystalline pattern of the time crystal structure not only repeats itself in space but also in time; it is a new form of matter that can never reach equilibrium. Awesome, right?
