Research Description

I am interested in studying disparities in access to clean drinking water among California communities and identifying the underlying mechanisms driving these inequities. In collaboration with the Water Equity Science Shop, I have been working to update their Drinking Water Tool (DWT) with new map layers displaying groundwater threats (i.e. pesticide use intensity, PFAs, CAFOs, superfund sites, etc.). The DWT informs various stakeholders and the public of potential water quality and access issues within California. In an extension of this work, I am investigating whether pesticide use is unevenly distributed with respect to the sociodemographics of domestic well reliant communities. My research leverages publicly available datasets, geographic information systems (GIS), and community/stakeholder feedback.
