What to Wear
During May, the weather in Berkeley can vary from sunny and hot to rainy and cold.
In the past, the weather has been very pleasant, about 85 degrees Fahrenheit, sunny, with a cool breeze from the Bay.
We recommend that you dress in layers of "nice" summer clothes and bring a sweater or cardigan. You will be outside walking on grass and non-paved surfaces; wear relatively good shoes (flats or thick-heeled low pumps).
Many of the seats for the CNR Commencement Ceremony are in the sun; it is wise to arrive early for shady seats.
Some things you might consider bringing:
- Umbrella
- Raincoat/poncho
- Shoes with sturdy heels (you will be walking on soft grass)
- Suntan lotion
- Hat
- Small fan
- Light sweater/cardigan (the breeze can be cold, even in the sun).
- Water bottle
- Sunglasses

Tickets
Each student who has registered for CNR commencement and added themselves to the commencement program will receive 10 tickets each. Children 2 years and up will need a ticket for admission to the ceremony. Your student will need to be prepared to show their Cal student I.D. card to receive tickets.
The Office of Instruction and Student Affairs (OISA) will begin distributing tickets starting April 14, 2008 during the hours of 9-12 pm and 1-5 pm Monday through Friday, until Monday, May 12, 2008, end of instruction. Tickets are available in 260 Mulford Hall. We suggest you encourage your student to pick up tickets as soon as they are available.
Students who need more than 10 tickets can let OISA know how many more additional tickets they will need when they pick up their first 10 tickets. Students will be able to pick up additional tickets upon availability Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - Friday, May 16, 2008, during the hours of 9-12 pm and 1-5 pm.
Special Seating
Special seating can be arranged for handicapped guests and guests who cannot manage stairs. You may send requests to The Office of Instruction and Student Affairs. Your request must be received by May 1, 2008.
Courtesty
We expect all students and guests to be courteous to the presenters as well as other audience members. Remember:
- Turn off cell phones and other sound bearing devices for the duration of the ceremony
- Remain in your seats until the emcee announces the end of the ceremony to ensure an enjoyable experience for all guests.
Congratulations! We'll see you at the Greek Theater at 8am on Sunday, May 18, 2008.
