The CNR Field and Lab Experience Fund
This fund provides the Dean of the College of Natural Resources with the strategic resources to fund innovative and exciting field experience opportunities for students from across the College.
Field and lab experience opportunities have historically been a unique and important feature of the College of Natural Resources' curriculum and learning environment. Field and lab education is an exciting and often life-changing experience for students: these experiences take the student outside of the classroom and provide them with hands-on learning opportunities that are virtually impossible to simulate in the classroom environment.
Field experiences may also include site visits and faculty-led discussion time with individuals and groups such as:
- Land managers
- Representatives from private industry: Biotechnology, Timber, Energy, Agriculture, etc.
- Policy makers
- Government agencies and officials.
Thoughtful and personal interactions with real people — running real businesses or making real policy decisions — challenge our students to examine and balance the economic, social and environmental costs as well as the benefits when policies and practices are put into action. These interactions push students to think critically and examine the variety of opinions around an issue.
All gifts to CNR are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.
