Research Opportunities for Genetics and Plant Biology Majors

There are many research opportunities in the Plant and Microbial Biology laboratories for qualified undergraduate students, such as Honors Research (PMB H196) or Supervised Independent Study and Research (PMB 99 and PMB 199). Research helps provide qualifications that significantly enhance students' training and career development.

PMB H196 seeks to introduce highly motivated, high-achieving undergraduate students to original research. Students could receive credit under PMB H196 for such work. Students may apply up to 12 units toward graduation and up to 4 units to upper division major elective requirements (a one-unit credit per semester requires a three-hour involvement per week in a research laboratory). Upon successful completion of the honors program, students will receive Honors in General Scholarship at Graduation with the Bachelor's Degree.

PMB 99 and PMB 199 also seek to introduce undergraduate students to original research and to provide qualifications that will significantly enhance students' training and career development. By enrolling in PMB 99 and PMB 199 students could receive credit under PMB 199 for involvement in research, and may apply up to 12 such units toward graduation and up to 4 units to upper division major elective requirements (a one-unit credit per semester requires a three-hour involvement per week in a research laboratory).
