In pursuing an Environmental Science major, I am eager to better understand the importance of conservation in the face of rapid global change. With the help of Kyle and Albert as mentors, I am developing a senior thesis project that focuses on how altered seasonal flows due to early snowmelt may impact emergent aquatic insects in Sierra Nevada streams. My research project aims to anticipate the effects of climate change-induced streamflow on insect community composition, and the implications of altered insect emergence for both aquatic and terrestrial food webs.
