This summer I went to the UC Forestry Summer Field Camp. It was one of the best summers of my life and I learned soooo much there about forest ecology and got a great picture of what it would be like to be a forester. If you have any questions about camp, please ask! I would highly recommend camp to everyone, even if Forestry isn't your major; it's the best 8 weeks!
I think that my major is so perfect for me because what it really boils down to is that I just love trees and everything that they contribute to our world. I'm a firm believer that our natural resources should be used to progress society, but they should be used in a wise manner. By studying forestry, I learn about the great resource of trees and how to manage it so that that resource never runs out.
I first learned how wonderfully unique CNR was when I was a senior in high school and received a call from the Forestry PAL at the time. She was so helpful, sincerely wanted to answer any questions that I might have, and was ready with great advice. I never would have received that kind of personal treatment from any other university which made my decision to enroll in CNR an easy one. Now that I am a student here, I want to be that helpful to anyone and everyone and help spread the word about how great CNR is.
In addition to being a PAL, I'm a member of Berkeley College Republicans and Forestry Club. I love to go outdoors and learn about nature, as well as do crafty stuff like crochet. Christmas of 2007 was especially meaningful to me, because my boyfriend of 3+ years, Alan, asked me to marry him! We are very excited to be engaged and are planning on getting married September 2009 (after I graduate of course!). I can't wait!!! You'll have to come by my office hours in order to hear all the great details and see the amazing ring! You can find me outside of the Student Resource Center on Wednesdays 10am-12pm. Have a wonderful day!
