About the Course:
Berkeley's a big place — any student can tell you that. Cal's size is often the source of its strength: with so many inspired, competent students in one place, a lot of incredible things can — and have — been brought to fruition. More often than not, however, Cal's size instills confusion, intimidation, and a overwhelming sense of impossibility when trying to effect change on campus.
The Student Environmental Resource Center, a joint student-organization and administrative office, is intended to combat these problems within the environmentalist community at Berkeley. This class is intended for both incoming and veteran students who wish to navigate the dense landscape of student and administrative environmentalism at Cal. We'll be exploring the huge expanse of activity by interacting directly with those actually working on environmental issues at Berkeley and trying to understand their successes and failures in the bureaucratic jungle to the ends of understanding how we ourselves can model the best behaviors for our own aspirations' ends.
How to Enroll:
The first day of class, Wednesday, September 3rd, will enroll students on a first-come, first-served basis.
Given additional space, students who start attending in the second week will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
