Untangling the Farm Bill: Graduate Seminar Presentations

Come and hear the final presentations of UC Berkeley’s first Farm Bill Graduate Seminar and learn about emerging marker bills and pressing issues in our nation’s largest omnibus food and agriculture legislation. This two-hour cross-disciplinary seminar will feature student research and policy briefs on proposed improvements to the Farm Bill.

Topics will include:

- The Elephant in the Farm Bill: Farmworker Welfare
- Dignified SNAP in the Upcoming Farm Bill
- Why We Need to Reauthorize the 2501 Program for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers & Ranchers

ESPM 226: Untangling the Farm Bill is moderated by Professor Alastair Iles (ESPM) along with Nina F. Ichikawa (Policy Director, Berkeley Food Institute) and brings experts to engage students in understanding the Farm Bill’s framework and analyzing its history, structure, and implementation.
