In this lecture, Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Sustainable Energy for All, brought an energy access lens to the global energy transition conversation. Ahead of COP27, there is an urgent need for the global community to prioritize action for a just, inclusive and equitable energy transition that leaves no one behind. The presentation demonstrated this by showcasing Nigeria’s ambitious commitment to achieve energy access by 2030 and net-zero by 2060 as a case study, highlighting the level of finance that needs to be leveraged for developing nations to deliver clean energy to the far too many who still live without access to energy.
