Can the Brazilian Amazon Forest Still be Saved? On the Amazon Fund between Brazil, Germany, and Norway

Thursday, April 28, 2022

In 2008, Brazil, Germany, and Norway jointly created the "Amazon Fund" with the ambition to stop deforestation by financing sustainable projects and support local communities in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. In this lecture, IES Visiting Fellow Herbert Gonçalves Marques Jr. will analyze and evaluate the results of the Amazon Fund and discuss the challenges it faces since the election of Jair Bolsonaro as the new president of Brazil in 2019.
