Rausser College of Natural Resources is an intellectual bridge that connects the campus to the residents of our state and beyond. We foster interdisciplinary approaches to both fundamental and applied research, innovative teaching, and experiential learning. The college’s award-winning research scientists actively pursue proven solutions for challenges across a broad spectrum of fields, from the application of CRISPR-based technology for the advancement of safe and sustainable agriculture to the design of California’s cap-and-trade climate policies. And unique to Rausser College is Cooperative Extension, a core of expert researchers who tackle issues in agriculture, energy, water, forestry, and nutrition, and connect the university to communities throughout California.
Our alumni work hard to improve the health and well-being of people and the planet through work at government agencies, NGOs, private industry, and academia. They can be found at institutions such as the EPA, the World Bank, Environmental Defense Fund, the Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service, Kaiser Permanente, Google, Sutter Health, and hundreds of other organizations.
Our strategic plan outlines key priorities for Rausser College of Natural Resources and the steps we are taking to build interdisciplinary science initiatives with strengthened community engagement and private-public partnerships, improve student experiences and expand discovery opportunities, and deepen our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
