Speaker Nancy Lee Peluso is Henry J. Vaux Distinguished Professor of Forest Policy in the department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley and Director of the Berkeley Workshop on Environmental Politics.
About the talk: Can a landless maid in Hong Kong remake the forest in Indonesia? Professor Peluso's talk will discuss how the usual perspectives on forest transitions and agrarian change are turned upside down through a study of labor migration affecting Southeast Asian forests.
