I'm from:
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
What brought me here:
After completing my undergraduate degree at Wartburg College, I moved to Colorado for a change of scenery and began research in the field of diabetes. Turns out, I kind of like it! Alas, I surrendered to the westward momentum and came to Cal for the outstanding research opportunities.
Current stage in program:
4th year Endocrinology Ph.D. Candidate, Dan Nomura Lab.
Outside of lab I love:
baking, tennis, being outdoors, good beer, and good company. I just spent the summer backpacking through Europe--needless to say, I caught a serious travel bug and am itching to go back!
I am primarily interested in cell metabolism, obesity, and obesity-related disorders.
