Mary Lesser receives Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award

Congratulations to Mary Lesser, a continuing lecturer and researcher in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology, who was awarded the Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award from the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (CAND)

CAND is a nonprofit membership association of more than 6,500 dietitian nutritionists, nutrition dietetic technicians, and students committed to improving health and bolstering the profession of dietetics in California, using education, advocacy, and research. Its mission is to empower members to be science and evidence-based food and nutrition leaders in the state. 

In addition to her appointment at Berkeley, Lesser is a researcher at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute and a pediatric dietitian at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, Oakland. Her research interests include the developmental origins of health and disease, focusing on the nutrition environment during early development such as pregnancy and early childhood. In 2016, Lesser won awards from both the American Society of Nutrition and American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
