Congratulations to Temple Byars, college scheduler and enrollment manager for Rausser College of Natural Resources, on receiving a Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award for 2022.
Awarded by the Chancellor's Staff Advisory Committee, the university-wide honor recognizes staff members who go above and beyond their normal duties to make significant contributions to the UC Berkeley community.
As a member of Rausser College’s Office of Instruction and Student Affairs, Temple guides new courses and course change proposals. They regularly volunteer to fill staffing gaps or assist with training new staff, all while maintaining their high quality of work.
During the pandemic, Temple created a “Scheduler’s Social & Support Group” which meets monthly for lunch. Temple was nominated by two members of the group in recognition of their efforts to maintain community among campus schedulers over the past two years. Colleagues and supervisors who work with Temple say it is “refreshing to work with someone who knowingly and willingly goes above and beyond their normal workload.” Temple is described as timely, knowledgeable, and self-assured as they provide sustained service above and beyond their job description.
