Congratulations to Energy and Resource Group (ERG) graduate student Aline Abayo for being selected as one of eleven participants in the Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program.
A collaboration between EF Study Abroad, The Forum of Education Abroad, and the Nobel Prize Museum, this highly competitive program recognizes exceptional students worldwide who are dedicated to tackling global challenges. Throughout the Fall term, Abayo and other participants have been engaging in action learning projects and an online course. The program will culminate with an in-person experience in Stockholm, Sweden, during the Nobel Week Dialogue from December 6 to 12. Abayo and her cohort will explore key global issues, attend lectures from Nobel Laureates, and participate in collaborative discussions with global leaders and local partners on this year's theme, "The Future of Health."
Abayo’s research in ERG focuses on climate finance, critical minerals, the economics of renewable energy, and the intersection of climate and development goals. Before joining ERG, she was a junior fellow in the Africa Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where she contributed to research on Africa’s energy transition and its evolving role in global geopolitics. Abayo is originally from Kigali, Rwanda, and holds a BS in Integrated Science and Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
