The Rausser College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley, is pleased to announce Jason Kibbey’s appointment as the incoming Executive Director of the Master of Climate Solutions (MCS) program. A proven leader in sustainability and climate solutions, Kibbey brings over two decades of entrepreneurial and strategic expertise to this innovative new program dedicated to training the next generation of climate professionals.

As the founder of multiple influential organizations, including the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (now Cascale) and Worldly (formerly Higg), Kibbey has driven transformative change in sustainability across industries. His work creating groundbreaking tools like the Higg Index has set global standards for measuring and improving environmental and social impacts across apparel, footwear, sporting goods, and accessories sectors. A UC Berkeley alumnus with three degrees, including an MBA from the Haas School of Business and a BS in Environmental Economics and Policy from Rausser College, Kibbey’s deep ties to the University make him an ideal leader to launch this dynamic program.
“I am thrilled to return to my alma mater to help shape the future of climate education and action,” said Kibbey, who will oversee the development and execution of the MCS program’s strategic vision, teach capstone and colloquium courses, and build strong partnerships with the private sector, government, and NGOs. His extensive network of sustainability leaders, proven ability to secure funding and forge impactful partnerships, and record of impact will be crucial to the program’s success.
“The MCS is uniquely positioned to provide interdisciplinary education and hands-on training to create the next generation of climate solutions leaders,” he added. “I look forward to working with the incredible students, faculty, and partners at UC Berkeley to implement and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis.”

The MCS will welcome its first cohort under Jason’s leadership in fall 2025, offering a curriculum that will equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to implement innovative and equitable climate solutions across sectors.
