The web presence for a college, department, program, or individual often serves as a first impression, and in today’s world, modern, mobile-friendly websites are more important than ever. Rausser College’s web team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the college website, departmental websites, and special program/project sites. When possible, they can provide advice and resources to faculty labs. Here are some resources to review as you consider your specific web needs:

UC Berkeley resources

  • Visit the Berkeley Brand site for information about their offerings for website creation, including a basic dreamweaver and WordPress template (does not include hosting or support). You may also consider
  • Open Berkeley, UC Berkeley’s turnkey web platform solution that provides campus employees with no prior web experience a powerful toolset to easily build sophisticated websites that are secure and accessible. Open Berkeley is available for a setup fee (~$328) and monthly support fee. Open Berkeley customers have found our campus rate to be significantly less expensive than what vendors quote them for ongoing security updates, maintenance, and support. For a 2-minute video on Open Berkeley, visit open.berkeley.edu.

Your profile on the departmental website

All faculty, graduate students, and staff should have a profile on their departmental website. For CVs, lists of publications, and other similar information, your profile on your departmental site may be sufficient. Contact your department administrator or the College comms team for more info.

Course websites

The College is unable to support the creation of individual course websites. For internal course websites, use bCourses, the official Learning Management System for Berkeley.
